Hello and welcome to my site.

First the basics I guess… I am an Artist, Illustrator & creative practitioner based in Oban on the west coast of Scotland. With a practice of over 30 years. (Where does the time go?) I like to work with watercolours, acrylics & inks, but I enjoy experimenting with other materials and techniques. I enjoy mixed-media, digital art & photography.

Nature is my passion. I spend my time in gardens and woodlands, trying to be still enough to see any sign of the local wildlife. Since my wildlife photography can be a bit ropey, animals and birds often feature in my drawn and painted works instead.

I am deeply interested in ancient art, from cave paintings and cup & ring carved stones to medieval carved stones, manuscripts and Celtic art. I like to mix poetry and words with images in my artwork. Since learning Scottish Gaelic I have been inspired by Gaelic culture and the heritage of Argyll. My first bi-lingual project, Colmcille 1500, celebrating St Columba won a Heritage Arts Award. You can see the manuscript video made, combining project work from Colmcille 1500 & Stepping Stones projects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cue0Z5JOpXk

I am currently working on a planned exhibition, featuring artwork & photography inspired by Dunollie Wytch Woods, in Oban. A special place!
